Privacy Reading Path

Privacy questions appear whenever an interface collects, exposes, or infers information about a person. This reading path connects identity, ballot status, cross-platform presentation, and publishing integrations. It focuses on the purpose and boundaries of information use rather than assuming that a technical identifier settles a human or policy question.

As you compare the articles, ask which information the task actually needs and which actor should be able to access it. Distinguish an account session from an identity claim and an identity claim from a participation decision. Write those distinctions into both the design and the interface copy.

Put the ideas to work

Trace a hypothetical personal record from entry to display and deletion. Mark every point where another person or system can see it. For each exposure, state the purpose in a sentence. If the purpose is unclear, reconsider the design before adding another field or storing another copy.
